Epsom College Boys-U13A vs  Dunottar School Boys-U14A
On: Saturday, 12 Jan 2019
Venue: at Home

Drew 1-1

The U13As kicked off their season with a match against Dunottar’s U14As. Despite often trailing in height, weight and speed to their more mature visitors, the boys played with courage, composure and flair, controlling possession and the tempo of the game. With Dunottar defending in numbers the spaces were tight and a lack of accuracy in the final ball led to a 0-0 scoreline at half time. Dunottar often looked dangerous from their long range clearances and some great defending from the accomplished Matthew Earle (Wa) and tenacious Euan Edwards rescued the side. After going behind to another breakaway, the midfield trio of captain Joss Wells (Hu), Luke Campbell (Wa) and Oliver Hayman (Hu) then started to dictate play. One slick move provided Campbell with space on the edge of the box who then ghosted past three defenders to level the score. Epsom continued to pile on the pressure in a feisty affair, with Finn McLennan-Fordyce (Hu) and the speedy Milo FitzHugh (Wa) linking well with Seumas Brown (Wa). Sadly they could not find the finish and the game finished in a draw. An encouraging start, though with lots to work on.
Goal scorer: Campbell (Wa)
