Match Report
Epsom College Girls-U12C vs  King Edward VI, Southampton
On: Saturday, 15 Sep 2018
Venue: Away

Lost 2-4

The U12C Hockey team had a really positive first match of the season and were unlucky to come away with a loss against KES. Despite a long journey down to Southampton, Epsom started brightly and dominated the early play, with Olivia Key (Hu) battling hard for every ball and Nicola Peters (Wa) making sensible clearances in defence. At half time Epsom went in 2-1 up following some sustained periods of pressure in the opposition half. The half time break offered a chance for KES to regroup and they resumed with a far more direct style of play, using the space to take Epsom players out of the game. They also had success ringing the Epsom defence at 16-yard hits to pile on the pressure and scored three times. Lottie Edwards (GH) saved brilliantly by the post at a short corner and both Maria Grant (Hu) and Megan Tan (Wa) were unlucky not to score on separate breakaways. Some key areas to work on in training but the team can be confident about their prospects for the rest of the season.

Goal Scorers: Tan (Wa), Key (Hu)

Player of the Match: Katie McNeil (Hu)
