Epsom College Boys-U18E vs  Haileybury
On: Saturday, 02 Feb 2019
Venue: at Home

WON 5-4

Pitch-side with the 5th XI was the place to be this Saturday. Having conceded in the second minute, Max Rogers (Rn) scored a seven-minute hat-trick to put Epsom 3-1 ahead. Barely halfway through the first half Rogers had scored his fourth, but Haileybury recovered their composure and by half time had pulled two goals back. The second half began exactly as the first and Epsom’s defence allowed an equaliser. The tension increased as both sides looked to regain the lead. Epsom played some composed football but failure to score meant everyone’s nerves were on edge until Charlie McMurdo (Rn) scored with six minutes to go. Both sides had chances near the end but the defence, skilfully marshalled by Jonah Drees (Fa), Tom Busby (P) and James Towson (Fa), held firm for a deserved Epsom victory
Goal scorers: Rogers (Rn) x4, McMurdo C (Rn)
