Epsom College Boys-U16C vs  Haileybury
On: Saturday, 02 Feb 2019
Venue: Away

WON 3-2

Rarely does the cruel mistress of football serve up such a treat. A makeshift team took to a boggy pitch against a physically imposing Haileybury XI and found themselves a goal down within fifteen minutes. However, after a tactical tweak, Epsom gained more control of the midfield and started to threaten, with pacy Anish Patel (Rn) forever poised on the last Haileybury shoulder. Just before half time, the team was rewarded with an equaliser, as Teddy Jenkins (G) swooped on a long punt from Angus Picken (Rn), a punt that plopped into the six-yard box mud and did not move another inch, to prod home. A breakaway goal from Haileybury from an Epsom corner tested the boys' spirit, but it was a test they passed admirably. With Charlie Delamain (G) pulling the strings in the no.10 position, and Patel stretching the entire defence, there were a number of good chances before Jack Rumble (P) equalised again with a fine lob from the edge of the box. Then, in the dying seconds, Patel was released again and this time he made no mistake. Showing the bedraggled defence a clean pair of heels, he raced into the box and rifled into the far corner.
