Match Report
Epsom College Boys-U16C vs  Harrow School
On: Saturday, 09 Feb 2019
Venue: Away

Lost 3-6

A nine-goal thriller! Epsom trailed 0-2 at half time thanks to two fortuitous goals (a wind assisted ‘lob’ into the top corner and an open goal created via a rebound from the post from a speculative shot from distance). Nevertheless, Harrow had earned their luck, as they had wanted it more - their additional aggression in the tackle combined with strong no-nonsense defending making them the better team. The second half was much better, with Epsom showing much more tenacity in the final third. However, just as they threatened to gain a foothold in the game the boys found themselves reeling from the combination punch of three quick Harrow goals. The more combative spirit remained, however and the boys hit back with three goals in 5 minutes themselves - a screamer from Kartik Jain (G) from outside the box, a solid penalty from Alex Wilkinson (Rn) and a classic poach from Anish Patel (Rn), running clear from a threaded midfield ball. The comeback was on and the tails were up. However as they swept forward in search of more glory the unexpected sucker-punch came.
Goal scorers: Jain (G), Wilkinson (Rn), Patel (Rn)
