Match Report
Epsom College 2nd XV vs  St John's School, Leatherhead
On: Saturday, 08 Dec 2018
Venue: at Home

WON 8-3

A very fitting final school rugby match for the 2nd XV’s U6th boys. The opening five minutes set the tone for the rest of the game, with huge hits and galloping attacks from both sides. Unfortunately, the wet weather limited the home side’s game plan and expansive play inevitably resulted in handling errors. In trying to quash attacks, there were considerable infringements by both teams, neither side really monopolising the high penalty count. St John’s led the game only 3-0 going into half time. The second half was equally ferocious but Epsom were perhaps a little more composed and started to retain the ball, building the phases. Pressure resulted first in Tom Wearne (G) kicking a penalty to make it 3-3. Then with the conditions improving and in the final minutes of the game, the Epsom backline sent it wide one last time finding Laju Aragho (Fa), whose strength and speed saw him cross the line to make it 8-3. St John’s did not have the time to counterattack and the Epsom 2nd XV finished the season undefeated. The boys should be congratulated for their dogged determination, willingness to adapt and excellent team spirit.

Try: Aragho (Fa)

Player of the Match: Tom Wearne (G)
