On: Saturday, 08 Dec 2018
Venue: Away

WON 24-5

Epsom were rewarded for their huge improvement and application over the season with a deserved four-try win over rivals St John’s. In testing conditions, Epsom played with pace and skill and gradually wore down a decent opponent. Playing down-wind in the first half, Teddy Pople (P) kicked smartly, turning the St John’s fullback on several occasions with Finn Everett (Rn) an ever-willing and effective chaser. Pressure was maintained through gutsy pick-and-goes up front, with Ben Kersley (H) eventually crashing through to counter an early St John’s score. It was then the backs’ turn to display their silky handling skills, with Alex Gee (P) released out wide for two brilliant scores either side of half time. Playing against the wind in the second half meant Epsom had to counter with ball in hand, and storming runs right across the side relieved the pressure, time and time again. An exceptional counter-rucking game also came to the fore and Seb Kennell (H) deservedly put the game to bed with the final telling score. A brilliant win to top off a thoroughly enjoyable season. Well done boys.
