Match Report
Epsom College Boys-U15B vs  St John's School, Leatherhead
On: Saturday, 08 Dec 2018
Venue: at Home

WON 18-0

After an even first ten minutes, Epsom took the decision (unusual at U15B level) to kick for goal from a penalty. Olivier Wong (G) calmly converted the effort and secured another, even more challenging three points five minutes later. The error strewn first half finished 6-0, with Epsom having served their time battling up the hill. The team performance was considerably better than last week and, but for a nervy few moments at the close of the half, St John’s looked unlikely to break through the Epsom defence. In the second half, Josh Hirtenstein (Rn) controlled the game well with his impressive left boot and Nick Wong (H) dealt comfortably with attempted clearances to keep St John’s pinned in their own 22. Strong carrying from Henry Lyes (Rn) and Olly Laidlaw (Fa) punched holes in the St John’s defence repeatedly; a number of handling errors in the difficult conditions prevented a more convincing score line. An impressive and well deserved victory to close a pleasing season of results and player development.
