Venue: at Home

Lost 14-19

Epsom hosted Cranleigh in rainy conditions for an entertaining match. The visitors scored early in the corner to put the team on the back foot 0-7. Epsom retained the lion’s share of possession for the half but were unable to convert until Kit Temperley (Rn) sliced through a series of defenders to set up Jasper Lawler (P) to tie the game at 7-7. It was attritional rugby for the remainder of the half. Shortly into the second period Cranleigh put together a string of phases within their own 22 to score an impressive end to end try, making it 7-14. Epsom responded well and Temperley nudged an inspired cross-field kick to put Will Springett (Fa) in in the corner, making it level at 14-14. Epsom continued to control the possession but Cranleigh turned the ball over and piled on extended pressure for several phases that even the most heroic defence could not stop, Cranleigh eventually scoring in the corner to make the final score 14-19.

Tries: Springett (Fa), Lawler (P)
