Epsom College 1st XV vs  RGS, Guildford
On: Saturday, 17 Nov 2018
Venue: Away

WON 25-13

The 1st XV returned to winning ways with a solid outing against RGS Guildford. Epsom went 5-0 up through Adam Koep (C) after some sustained pressure resulted in a try. Some poor discipline led to an RGS penalty, making it 5-3. George Addington (Rn) scored a typical no.8 try, taking a quick tap free kick from a scrum. Further ill-discipline led to another RGS penalty, and with half time nearing, 10-6 seemed to be the scoreline. However, Koep broke through the RGS defensive line to put Bertie Bamber (Fa) over. Jack Jesty (G) converted to make it 17-6 at half time. Some good play to start the second half was mixed in with some poor decision-making and missed chances. On multiple occasions, Epsom broke the line only to be turned over by some tremendous work from the RGS open side flanker. James Webster (Fa) eventually found some space and put Koep in again. A penalty try for RGS took the score to 25-13, which it remained to the end. A good game with plenty of new players introduced into the squad before Thursday's Champions Trophy Semi-final.

Tries: Koep (C) x2, Addington (Rn), Bamber (Fa)

Player of the Match: Luke Nesbit (F) - tireless work in defence and attack, while captaining the side for the first time.
