Match Report
Epsom College Boys-U14B vs  RGS, Guildford
On: Saturday, 17 Nov 2018
Venue: at Home

Lost 14-15

Despite a good start the boys lost a tightly contested game by one point. A super beginning to the match saw Epsom take an early lead, when Rorke Ollerhead (Fa) finished off a great move. RGS came back strongly but excellent defensive work from Tom Curham (Rn), Lucas Rasmussen (H), Teddy Keevil (C) and Jonathan Harris (Fa) kept the opposition out. However, the pressure was too much and eventually a try was conceded. After excellent rucking from the forwards the ball was turned over and superb handling gave Oliver Yeabsley (G) an overlap and with a turn of pace he outran the defenders to give Epsom a 14-5 lead at half time. Despite going downhill in the second half and with a lead, the boys were tactically naïve, not playing for territory, and eventually this led to RGS scoring a second time. In the last couple of minutes Epsom clung to a 14-10 lead, but despite supreme efforts from Rasmussen, Coffey and Harris, RGS scored in the last minute of the game. A narrow defeat but the boys certainly learnt a lot about closing out a match.

Tries: Ollerhead (Fa), Yeabsley (G)

Player of the Match: Lucas Rasmussen (H) - excellent ball carrying and tackling.
