Match Report
Epsom College 1st VII vs  Cranleigh School
On: Saturday, 09 Feb 2019
Venue: Away

WON 32-30

The girls saved their best netball until the last quarter today. They started tentatively, but great shooting by Ellie Thwaites (M) and India Binnie (R) kept Epsom in the game. In the second quarter, far too many unforced errors were made and Cranleigh were able to pull 7 goals ahead. At half time the girls were frustrated at their performance, which was below par, and came back on with more determination. They kept with Cranleigh throughout the third quarter but despite opportunities to reduce the difference they did not take advantage. Changes made going into the final quarter proved crucial. Jennifer Phizackerley (Cr) had impact as Centre and India Binnie (R) came out as Goal Attack and fed the ball in beautifully to Ellie Thwaites as Goal Shooter. The girls started to edge back, and spurred on by their improved flow through the court and play into the circle, the defence worked tirelessly to turn the ball over. Cranleigh were shell-shocked by the change of play and Epsom pushed hard to bring the goal difference back. The girls pulled ahead when it mattered, winning the last quarter 13-4 to snatch the win.
