Match Report
Epsom College Girls-U14A vs  Lord Wandsworth College
On: Saturday, 22 Sep 2018
Venue: at Home

WON 1-0

This was a brilliantly competitive game that went right to the wire and was enjoyed by all spectators and players. Epsom deserved the win, creating more pressure and chances, but it could easily have gone either way and goalkeeper Delphine Ayitey-Hammond (Rv) had to make a number of fine saves at crucial moments to keep Lord Wandsworth out. Amelia Thomson (Wh) and Polly Campbell (Rv) had excellent games in defence, making some hard tackles and distributing the ball well. Sophie Norman (Wh) and Katie Evans (M) linked well on the left flank but Epsom could not convert. With the score 0-0 at half time, Epsom’s midfield changed its formation to give Farrah Stephens-Martin (M) a real go on the right hand-side. The pressure paid off and after excellent play and awareness by Ella Parson (Rv), Stephens-Martin was released to create havoc in the D and the rebound was eventually stuck away by Sophie Edison (M) with about 15 minutes left. Both sides could have scored after that but both keepers pulled off some fine saves to keep it tense and tight to the very end. Epsom’s best performance yet.

Goal Scorer: Edison (M)

Player of the Match: Amelia Thomson (Wh)
