Match Report
Epsom College Girls-U13A vs  Lord Wandsworth Festival
On: Saturday, 06 Oct 2018
Venue: Away

On a very miserable day with the rain being non-stop the girls kept their spirits high and displayed some excellent hockey throughout the 5 games. With short games, the team knew they needed to score early and put on a fine display of hockey.

WON 2-0 v Churchers. (Henwood (Hu), Stephens (Wa))

A great start to the tournament with all guns blazing. A good team performance with another three chances in front of goal that could easily have gone in.

WON 1-0 v Christ Hospital (Burke (Wa))

Lovely defensive work as a team and very aggressive stepping in front. Amelia Burke (Wa) scored with a short corner straight strike to secure the win. There were some lovely crosses coming in that as a team needed to be converted, but this is certainly improving.

WON 4-1 v Island Free School (Fryer (Wa) x2, Henwood, Stephens)

A very solid and exciting team performance, all 9 girls playing their part and having a positive impact on the game, which was great to see. Sadly the team allowed a scrappy goal in, this the only goal conceded throughout the day.

WON 1-0 v Lord Wandsworth (Stephens)

Having lost to this team 1-4 two weeks ago, the girls knew what to expect and how to improve their team performance. This was a different game completely, with every aspect the team was looking to implement achieved. Another great team performance with Ella Stephens securing the win. The team is still creating good scoring opportunities from all areas in the D which is very encouraging.

WON 2-0 v King Edward Southampton (Henwood, Manketo (Hu)

Positive play from all areas of the pitch and Epsom controlling the game. This summarised the day: Amber Roberts (GH) controlling the goal and D, the defence dictating the play and being positive, midfield dominating the game and attackers creating opportunities and finishing in front of goal. A huge well done to the team today; they played good, exciting and aggressive hockey, as well as having a good time doing it. They are constantly making steps to improve and develop. An excellent performance.

Goal Scorers: Stephens (Wa) x3, Henwood (Hu) x3, Fryer (Wa) x2, Burke (Wa), Manketo (Hu)
