Epsom College Girls-U12C vs  City of London Freemen's
On: Saturday, 13 Oct 2018
Venue: at Home

Lost 0-1

Following an excellent training session in the week, the U12C team welcomed CLFS to the Chapel Astro. The two sides were very well matched from the off, trading possession and territory as they battled for the upper hand. In the first half, the Freemen’s attacking players had a number of chances in front of goal, but excellent goalkeeping from Lucy Hughes (Wa) and some fine defensive work from Connie Elsom (Hu) and Bella Hibbert (GH) kept the opposition from scoring. At half time, the teams were level at 0-0. In the second half, the Epsom players grew in confidence and looked far more dangerous going forwards, seriously testing the Freemen’s goalkeeper on a number of occasions. Lucy Church-Jones (GH) and Sophie Bustard (Wa) ran and tackled tirelessly, and Georgie Watkin (GH) had particular success putting opposition players under pressure and winning possession. With a minute left on the clock Epsom conceded a short corner and, in a cruel twist, the Freemen’s shot was deflected into the Epsom goal. There was little time left to recover the situation and the opposition held on for the win. A very enjoyable game all round, despite the score not going in the girls’ favour.
