Epsom College Girls-U14A vs  Sutton Valence School
On: Saturday, 10 Nov 2018
Venue: Away

WON 5-2

A brilliant, competitive match and one that saw Epsom play some of their best spells of hockey so far. Epsom were a little slow to start, giving the ball away cheaply, but a break on the right by Katie Evans (M) created a chance going round the back and putting it on a plate for Sophie Norman (Wh). Sutton Valence scored almost immediately, against the run of play, but Farrah Stephens-Martin (M) used her pace to cruise past the defence and coolly slot home the second goal. Epsom started to transfer the ball superbly through Lucy Picken (Wh), Polly Campbell (Rv) and Amelia Thomson (Wh), making the opposition work extremely hard. Another right sided move resulted in a chance for Sophie Edison (M), who stuck it away.

In the second half, Sutton Valence quickly pulled one back and the game looked as if it could go either way. However, Epsom came alive and played their best hockey of the season, creating wave after wave of attack. Evans smashed home a short corner to put the girls two in front, and then the move of the day, with about ten passes strung together, worked the ball from right to left and some final dogged work in the D by Olivia Thompson-Brown (M) saw her pass returned and she calmly finished it to make the final score 5-2.

Goal Scorers: Edison (M), Norman (Wh), Stephens-Martin (M), Evans (M), Thompson-Brown (M)
