Epsom College Girls-U12C vs  Tormead School Girls-U12B
On: Saturday, 10 Nov 2018
Venue: at Home

WON 5-4

The U12C team was keen to chalk up their first win of the season against a well-drilled Tormead side. Both teams started strongly and looked to adjust to the pace of the surface on the Crosbie Astro. Early on, Lucy Church-Jones (GH) caught up with a through ball she had no right to reach, before stopping on the by-line and crossing for Megan Tan (Wa) to shoot wide of the keeper for the first Epsom goal. This seemed to wake Tormead from their coach journey, as they stormed back down the pitch to score within 30 seconds. The match then became very open, with both teams pushing forwards, and Sophie Bustard (Wa) scored twice on the break to make it 3-1 to Epsom at half time. Following some coaching and reminders at the turnaround, Tormead lifted their game significantly, winning short corners and scoring three times in a row to lead 4-3 with only a few minutes to go. Lucy Hughes (GH) also managed to tip herself over the back of her goal and finish with only her leg pads waving in the air, much to the amusement of the supporting parents. Epsom’s girls would not be denied, however, and responded with character to score twice more before the end of the match; first through Sophie Bustard (Wa) on the break to bring up a well-deserved hat-trick, and then Georgie Watkin (GH) drove past two defenders before coolly lifting the ball wide of the opposition keeper. Lucy Hughes (GH) also made a sharp save in the dying moments to secure the win. This was a real team effort and all of the girls played their part in an excellent result.

Goal Scorers: Bustard (Wa) x3, Tan (Wa), Watkin (GH)

Players of the Match: Lucy Hughes (GH) in goal for some excellent saves, and Sophie Bustard (Wa) for her hat-trick.
