Epsom College Girls-3rd XI vs  Bradfield College
On: Saturday, 17 Nov 2018
Venue: Away

Drew 1-1

Unbeaten and unashamedly proud, the players travelled to the Reading countryside in defiant mood that victory was their only option. However, Bradfield were the strongest opposition faced this season, and they too were unbeaten until defeat against Cranleigh recently, so the stakes were high. The first five minutes were all spent defending and the girls were disconcerted after a tackle by exemplary captain Olivia Howarth (Wh) ended with a ball to the head and a need to be substituted. Bradfield kindly agreed to 10 v 10, so legs were tired for both teams. Clara Alexis (R) waited patiently on the left post to slot in an Epsom goal before half time. The second half was an outstanding display of a team unwilling to relent to pressure, closing down the midfield, jumping on any mistake made and seeking to capitalise on opportunities, but the girls simply could not put the ball in the net again. A defensive fumble in Bradfield’s one and only counterattack led to a short corner awarded and the equaliser. Despite a guest appearance from second team defender Maddy Luckyn-Malone (W) saving one with her stick mid height on the line, the girls were dead on their feet but never gave up. Save of the match was a high five glove by goalkeeper Amy Hirtenstein (Rv), that kept the unbeaten record alive. A spirited team performance, with particular flair from Ella Nigrelli (Rv).
