Match Report
Epsom College Girls-U12C vs  Alleyn's School
On: Saturday, 17 Nov 2018
Venue: Away

Lost 0-2

The Epsom girls played with energy and had a number of good chances in this closely fought match, but the Alleyn’s team prevailed due to a little more composure in front of goal. Following some enthusiastic singing on the coach on the way over, the team was in high spirits and they started the match keen to build on the win from last week. The ball speed and urgency of play was much improved, but there was a tendency to be generous to the opposition by not closing down space and allowing them to shoot when in the circle. Lucy Hughes (Wa) made some fine saves in goal, but could not prevent two scores before half time. In the second half, the Epsom team played higher up the pitch and were dominant for significant periods of play. Georgie Watkin (GH) and the other front players terrorised the Alleyn’s goal, but alas the defence held firm and there was to be no great comeback. Some valuable lessons relating to converting chances and closing down space, and the girls will look to build together in training next week.

Player of the Match: Megan Tan (Wa) - for her running and attacking threat.
