Match Report
Epsom College Mixed-U18A vs  Tonbridge School Boys-U18A
On: Tuesday, 02 Oct 2018
Venue: Away

Lost 1-2

With winter rules in place, Knole Park in Sevenoaks provided a wonderful venue for this key practice match ahead of the HMC cup round 2 golf fixture. In blustery conditions 3 foursomes games were played on a course known for its undulating topography and rapid greens.
In game 1, first pair Darragh Monaghan(P) and Canice Screene (Wh) came back from a poor start, where they went 3 down after 3 holes, to take the game to the last hole level. Playing against two near scratch golfers the pair showed superb fighting spirit. A par on the last was sadly surpassed by the home side's pin-point birdie to take the game 1 up.
In the second game Lucas Fildes (C) and Harry Marchesi (P) came up against two excellent players who would easily be first pair at most HMC schools. Despite some excellent recovery shots, after errant drives, the boys went down to the hosts.
In the final game the youthful pair of Toby Reynolds (G) and Oscar Lent (Wa), clearly inspired by last weekend's events at Le Golf National, produced the performance of the day. With Toby hitting long and straight all afternoon it was Oscar's trademark excellence on the greens that pushed the tie in Epsom's favour.
As always Epsom were hosted
superbly by Tonbridge.
