Match Report
Epsom College Boys-U16A vs  KS4 Nationals Stage 1
On: Wednesday, 10 Oct 2018
Venue: Away

In Stage 1 of the National Schools' competition, the U16 V came up against Charterhouse, Lancing and Reed’s. Each seed played 3 games against each of their opposite numbers from the other schools, with the overall score determined by the total number of points scored per team over the afternoon.

Epsom started with a tough fixture against Charterhouse.
First and second seeds Stanley Tanguy (G) and James Bull (G) both won their matches, Fraser Spalding (Fa) narrowly lost at third seed, while fourth and fifth seeds Ollie King (Rn) and Aadham Ahmad (F) also lost, but picked up several points apiece. Charterhouse won this fixture by a close points margin.

Epsom were much more dominant against Lancing, each player winning comfortably. Stanley Tanguy only lost four points and Fraser Spalding lost six.

They maintained this momentum into the final match of a tiring afternoon against Reed’s. The top three seeds all won easily, Aadham Ahmad also won all three games, while Ollie King fought hard to finish level on points with his opponent.

Charterhouse, who also beat Reed’s and Lancing comfortably, finished top of the group on 460 points, with Epsom close behind on 432.

As only the top team from each group qualifies for the next round automatically, the boys now face a nervous wait to see whether they will go through on points scored.
