Epsom College Girls-U12C vs  Thomas's, Clapham
On: Wednesday, 16 Jan 2019
Venue: at Home

WON 2-1

The U12Cs rolled back the clock and picked up their hockey sticks to take on a St Thomas’ side on Chapel Astro. Following a strong start to the match the Epsom players had the majority of the attacking play and looked the more dangerous side. The defensive pairing of Nicola Peters (Wa) and Connie Elsom (Hu) were not in generous mood and cleared out well when the ball did make its way into the Epsom circle. Following a few opportunities in front of the opposition goal, Georgie Watkin (GH) delivered the perfect cross for Sophie Bustard (Wa) to sweep the ball into the goal, and the score remained at 1-0 until half time. The St Thomas’ girls stepped up a gear in the second half, linking more effectively and coming back into the game. Kaylee Townsin (GH) in goal did well to stop a shot right on the line and kick away to safety. With less than 10 minutes to go, the unthinkable happened and Epsom conceded through a well-worked attacking move; however, without a backward step, the girls redoubled their efforts and captain Sophie Bustard (Wa) ran through the opposition defence to finish powerfully past the keeper with less than 2 minutes on the clock.

Goal scorer: Bustard (Wa) x2
