Epsom College Girls-U13C vs  Thomas's, Clapham Girls-U13B
On: Wednesday, 14 Nov 2018
Venue: at Home

Lost 2-7 and 3-9

The U13C girls came up against a mixture of the Thomas's Clapham and Thomas's Battersea teams. The first half started strongly, with several displays of brilliance in both attack and defence, including numerous interceptions by Goal Defence Maddy Conway (Wa), making it virtually impossible for the opposition to enter their shooting circle. By half time of the first match, the girls maintained the majority of possession, however struggled to convert these efforts into goals due to multiple calls of footwork and silly passes into the circle. The final result of the first match was 2-7 in favour of the opposition. However, the girls should be commended on the tremendous effort they put into the game, considering it was their first match of the season.
Due to their previous loss and several injuries, the girls entered the second half slightly disheartened and many out of position, which created a slight advantage to the other team. With players like Centre Chloe Head (GH) playing at Goal Keeper and captain Robyn Emmett (GH) playing Wing Defence, this game would be a difficult one. By the end of the first half the score was 0-7. However, with the right motivation the girls were determined to win the second half and they duly stepped up and played some excellent netball. Special mention to Chloe Head, who despite being several feet shorter than her opposing Goal Shooter, managed to get the most interceptions in the game, and to Robyn Emmett whose strategic thinking and composed playing style was effective in flowing the ball down the court, making the job of the shooters significantly easier. Both shooters, Anna Gillespie (GH) and Ava Manketo (Hu) contributed to a final score of 3-9, meaning that the girls had won the second half. The final score did not reflect the resilience and sportsmanship displayed by each girl on the court.
