Drew 5-5

The U14As kicked off the season with a preseason friendly against Brighton. On a cold winter's afternoon it only took 15 seconds for the atmosphere to warm up with Cosmo Mullen (P) diving in at the far post to finish off a brilliant attack. Unfortunately, that was also the end of the game for Cosmo who collided with the post, thankfully ok in the end. Following this the game opened up and both teams attacked better than they defended. Brighton soon levelled as a lack of commitment to challenging for the ball in midfield gave them an easy opportunity. It was not long before Epsom were back in front and Kit Temperley (Rn) scored his first goal of the game. All afternoon he battled away up front, demonstrating great physicality, tactical awareness and superb striking, going on to get a hat-trick! Brighton levelled just before halftime to make it 2-2. Epsom began the second half slowly, again gifting possession and allowing Brighton to take the lead. Moments later Temperley scored his second to bring the scores back to 3-3. Epsom then began to take control of the game with the midfield trio of Stephens-Martin (M), McMahon (F) and Gore (F) bossing the midfield and creating a number of opportunities. The game sprung into life in the last 10 minutes with Epsom taking the lead through Temperley, for his hat-trick) before Brighton scored two quick goals to go 5-4 up. Teddy Keevil (C) battled hard and calmly finished a superb pass from Temperley to draw the team level. A fantastic and lively start to the festive season's fixture.

Goal Scorers: Temperley (Rn) x3, Mullen (P), Keevil (C)
