Epsom College Boys-U18A vs  Brentwood School
On: Thursday, 07 Feb 2019
Venue: Away

Lost 0-4

Brentwood’s well established football programme has an outstanding reputation, so Epsom were prepared for a challenging afternoon. This season so far Brentwood’s 1st XI have scored 98 goals in 25 matches. Epsom started the match as a well organised defensive unit ready to withstand a storm. The elements did not help matters. Against the howling wind and with the sun in their eyes they endured early pressure from the home team. In the 10th minute Brentwood won a penalty, but the imposing figure of Josh Cooke (P) in goal was enough to force an off-target shot. The pressure on Epsom mounted further. Despite a resolute and disciplined effort, they were unable to keep out two first half goals. Epsom regrouped at half time and took the game to Brentwood in the second half. With the wind behind them, Epsom created some good opportunities, but were unable to convert. Intelligent pressing from George Dignum (Rn), Callum Holland (Rn), Ben Grubb (P) and Tom Lynagh (F) put the Brentwood defence under immense pressure which forced mistakes and put them on the back foot. As Epsom gambled, Tom Williams (P) and Sam McGrath (C) got forward well to offer support, but Brentwood hit Epsom on the break on a couple of occasions to snatch two further goals.
