Match Report
Epsom College 2nd XI vs  Brighton College Girls-U16A
On: Friday, 11 Oct 2019
Venue: at Home

Lost 0-2

Having watched the 1st XI cruise to victory in almost dry conditions, the girls were exceedingly upbeat for their game. As the whistle blew for the start of the match, however, the heavens opened, so much so that during the game, the players were removed from the pitch for five minutes for safety reasons, and at times girls had to be substituted off, as they could not see with their contact lenses in. As for the game, it was a good hard-fought contest. Both sides battled exceedingly hard through tough conditions. Chances were created at both ends and Brighton’s outstanding keeper thwarted Epsom on several occasions. Izzy Berry (M) in goal for Epsom also had another great game, and kept the team within sight of the opposition, but unfortunately, they ended up 2-0 winners. A huge effort by everyone and the team showed real guts and determination. Playing under the lights was a great experience and it was uplifting seeing the girls rise to the occasion of a Friday night fixture against tough opposition. A huge thank you to the few supporters who braved the elements and to Mrs Drinkall for umpiring through some terrible conditions.
