Epsom College Girls-U13A vs  Sutton Valence School
On: Saturday, 09 Nov 2019
Venue: Away

WON 6-1

In foggy, almost arctic conditions, the U13As got their second half of term going with a resounding victory over Kent side Sutton Valence. After a slow start, where frozen fingers seemed to be on show, the girls conceded a goal from a deflected aerial that was not dealt with. This uncharacteristic error seemed to wake the girls up, who soon found their usual fluency. Throughout the game the defensive section of Gina Carrington (Wa) and Maddie O’Brien (GH) was both solid and classy starting off attacks, whilst captain Edie McLennan Fordyce (GH) continued to provide the pivot through which possession was maintained and progressed. In the wide areas, Sophie Long (Wa) and Hannahli Foley-Outeiral (Hu) proved a constant threat with Long rewarded with three goals, having forced their markers to defend for the whole game. Olivia Diri (Hu) did not quite receive her usual service but continued to press the ball in an unselfish manner. Debutant goalkeeper Lucy Stephens (Hu) made a series of key interventions and showed the incredible depth the College has in this position in the U13 age group. Phoebe Lyes (Hu) produced a performance of exceptional quality. The stand-out player on the pitch, she continues her huge improvement this season with both a hat-trick and a completely devastating display of dribbling and attacking play. The fine season for the girls continues.

Goal scorers: Lyes (Hu) x3, Long (Wa) x3
