Match Report
Epsom College Boys-U15B vs  Harrow School
On: Saturday, 12 Oct 2019
Venue: Away

Lost 10-35

In very wet conditions, the U15Bs took on the imposing challenge of a Harrow team, on their own turf, that had beaten every other team they had played by over 50 points. Due to the conditions, the game inevitably had plenty of scrums on account of the handling difficulties, yet that took nothing away from the titanic first half where the two teams could not be split at the break, going in 7-7. Epsom rallied after an early score against them and took the fight back to the opposition; they kicked to turn the larger Harrow pack and then trusted their turnover prowess. The breakthrough came from a burst from Tom Williams (Fa), skittling through the Harrow defence. Slick hands in even slicker conditions meant that George Holmes (G) could get over for the score, which he converted. After a 25 minute delay due to an injury to the opposition, just as Epsom were on the ascendancy, once again the U15Bs were within touching distance of a try, but the conditions took its toll, with the ball being spilt before the line. Instead, 3 points were taken in front of the posts. Unfortunately, the winds were summoned behind Harrow and any attempt to kick to turn the opposition resulted in return of possession to the opposition. Late scores were conceded as Epsom tried to create chances and this took the gloss off a half of rugby that the boys can look back on with pride.

Try: Holmes (G)

Player of the Match: Max Stoddard (Fa)
