Epsom College Boys-U18A vs  Haileybury
On: Saturday, 02 Feb 2019
Venue: at Home

WON 2-0

It was a slow start from Epsom on a cold afternoon. Haileybury could have gone several goals clear in the first fifteen minutes. However, Josh Cooke (P) was immense in goal and made save after save to keep Haileybury out and went on to keep a clean sheet. Epsom finally got going midway through the first half and started to move the ball quickly, creating some good chances of their own prior to half time, with Tom Lynagh (F) hitting the bar from distance and Sam McGrath (C) just missing the target with his head from a corner. Both teams were disappointed to end the half 0-0. In the second half Epsom found another gear; the team stepped up faster, won more 50:50s, passed the ball with more speed and purpose and they worked really hard as a unit in both attack and defence. In the end, their fitness and desire to make something happen led to a penalty which Callum Holland (Rn) dispatched with real calmness and control. The second goal came after some excellent work down the right from Ben Grubb (P) and Oliver Bliss (Rn), who ran tirelessly up and down that side all afternoon, and Tom Lynagh (F) finished on the far post from close range. A great morale booster for all and a thoroughly deserved win for the boys who continue to improve week after week. Well done to Sam McGrath (C), James Webster (Fa), Tom Williams (P), Jack Roberts (Rn), Charlie Richardson (C) and George Dignum (Rn) who all put in big shifts to help secure the win.
