Match Report
Epsom College 1st VII vs  Lingfield College
On: Tuesday, 29 Jan 2019
Venue: Away

Lost 26-37

A poor start by Epsom saw the girls go five goals down to Lingfield unanswered. Epsom had their opportunities but the strong Lingfield circle defence took them by surprise and they struggled to find the goal circle and the net in the opening minutes. Midway through the first quarter India Binnie (R) stepped up, receiving more of the ball and shooting with great accuracy from long distance to keep Epsom in the game with a four goal difference. Throughout the second quarter the Epsom girls managed to keep the score difference at four, thanks mainly to Ellie Thwaites (M) who shot confidently. However, they were unable to pull back, allowing Lingfield too much space through the court. As the game progressed panicked play led to a loss of structure and the girls struggled to find their usual form. Movement was hampered by the damp court but the conditions were the same for both sides and Lingfield played with far more determination and flow than Epsom to widen the gap still further. A very disappointing performance by the Epsom girls who in no way played their best netball, but full credit to Lingfield who fully deserved the win.
