Match Report
Epsom College Boys-U18A vs  Old Epsomians
On: Saturday, 12 Jan 2019
Venue: at Home

Lost 1-2

The match was a good, open and physical affair with chances at both ends throughout the game. Somehow it remained 0-0 at half time, with the OEs having a penalty saved by Matthew Green (F) diving excellently to his right. The 1st XI boys had two very good chances inside the box that should have been put away, as well as other chances from outside the box by Tom Lynagh (F) and Callum Holland (Rn). The OEs played the brighter football at the start of the second half and two brilliantly taken goals by Remi Williams (ex-F) and Tim Clews (ex-P) left the boys with a mountain to climb. After the second goal, the team played some brilliant football with some excellent fast passing and quick interchanges. Jack Roberts (Rn) hit the bar from close range and then after some quick touches and passes Callum Holland (Rn) found space outside the box and curled in a low shot from 22yds – the keeper did not move, an excellent strike. The 1st XI pushed on with greater intensity and belief but could not find the equaliser. Plenty to work on but also some great moments to savour and take forward. If the team can play the whole game with the same intensity as the last 15 minutes they will have plenty of joy this season. Well done to James Webster (Fa) in the centre of midfield who worked tirelessly throughout the match and to the team who showed great desire and who battled hard throughout the match against a physical, experienced and well-oiled OE team.
Goal scorer: Holland (Rn)
Player of the Match: Callum Holland (Rn)
