Epsom College Boys-U16A vs  Wellington College

Venue: Away

WON 4-0

A slow first half of football at Wellington from Epsom allowed the opposition to pressurise and attack at will. Compact defending from Ben Dickinson (Rn) - ever reliable throughout - Nikolai Marinov (H), Olaiya Adeniji (F) and Christian Collier (P), and a 'spider monkey-like' display from Teddy Pople (P) ensured that the Epsom team did not concede. Once the journey cobwebs were swept away by the captain’s rally from Alex Gee (P) Epsom started to take advantage of being the more physical and balanced footballers. Jaami Qureshi (P) scored a wonderful individual goal just before half time, ending the half on a high. The team talk at half time ensued and the players worked well to problem-solve as a group. Clear goals were set in both attack and defence, with the players challenging each other to perform to the same standard as last Saturday. The response was immediate and Epsom built pressure on the Wellington defence. Christian Collier (P) made the most of a Qureshi corner by slamming it into the net from the edge of the 6-yard box. Tom Keevil (C) followed suit from another delivery, jumping like a salmon and connecting cleanly with his head. Qureshi finished the match off with an effort equally as sublime as his first. Epsom finished the victors in a 4-0 thriller. Many positives to take into the next fixture.
