Match Report
Epsom College Girls-U15B vs  Brighton College
On: Saturday, 12 Oct 2019
Venue: Away

Lost 1-4

On a cold, damp afternoon Epsom fought hard in a closely contested game, but unfortunately came out on the wrong side of the scoreline. Brighton scored with their first short corner within five minutes and ended a scrappy first half with a clinical second to go in 2-0 up at half time. The second half was a much more even affair. After Brighton scored their third with a very fortunate deflected goal, Epsom never gave up. Ella Clinton (Cr), Francesca Meek (Wh) and Thea Haigh (R) worked tirelessly in midfield to break up the play, and when they did give the early pass to the forward line, Epsom looked very dangerous. Ten minutes into the second half Thea Thompson-Brown (R) broke free with frightening pace and as she entered the circle slipped it left to Clinton, who skilfully lifted it over the onrushing keeper for Lara Mully (R) to tap in. Thompson-Brown continued to give the Brighton defence a torrid time as Epsom tried to get back into the game. Unfortunately, the girls could not find a way past the Surrey representative A team goalkeeper, who pulled off some good saves. The 4-1 scoreline was not a reflection on how close the game was and the girls should be proud of how much progress they have made this term.

Goal Scorer: Mully (R)

Player of the Match: Thea Thompson-Brown (R)
