Epsom College 1st  vs  Public School Relays
On: Friday, 13 Mar 2020
Venue: Away

Epsom took a handful of their strongest swimmers to compete in the 2020 Public School Relays at the London Aquatics Centre in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Throughout the day, 47 Boys teams and 40 Girls teams from schools across the country competed in 4 events.
The first event was the Girls 4x50m Freestyle Relay, swum by Amy Scerri (M), Amelia Thomson (R), Sophie Edison (M) and Izzy Fakkel (Wh), with the fastest split going to Izzy Fakkel leading out in a 30.56.
In the boys 4x100m Freestyle relay Dan Marriott (C), Matthew Jones (C), Tom Stannard (C) and Max Hales (Fa) swam a 4:14.04, with Dan Marroitt clocking the fastest split of 1:01.92.
In the afternoon, the Girls 4x50 Medley Relay saw great swims from Amy Scerri on Backstroke, Izzy Fakkel on Breaststroke, Izzy Thesiger (R) on Butterfly and Ella Clinton (Cr) on Freestyle. Unfortunately, despite the strong swims, the team was disqualified for one of the takeovers. All the girls deserve congratulating regardless, as their individual swims were some of the best of the day and could have seen them gain a place in the Dunelm Cup final for small schools.
The boys team of Dan Marriott on Backstroke, Louis Hawkins (F) on Breaststroke, Tom Stannard on Butterfly and Max Hales on Freestyle was a great last race for Epsom.
Special thanks to Louis Hawkins who was called up at the last minute and swam a very impressive Breaststroke leg.
The most impressive swim of the day, though, has to go to Max Hales for his 25.80 on the final leg of the 4x50 Medley.
